The Sanderling Resort and Spa is the perfect hotel for your vacation to the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks of North Carolina are a 200 – mile long strip of barrier islands stretching across half of the northern North Carolina coastline. The Sanderling Resort is located on the northern tip between the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound in the town of Duck, not far from the historic Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.
Surrounded almost 360 degrees by water, Sanderling Resort is a 16 – acre unspoiled beachfront paradise beckoning visitors with an array of memory making experiences, 95 guestrooms and suites and five rental homes.
Within walking distance of the sand and the surf of the beach as well as the tranquil waters of the sound, The Sanderling Resort and Spa has everything you could want from a resort. Not only will you enjoy the access to the beautiful beaches and scenery that the Outer Banks has to offer, but you also have access to the luxurious full service spa and salon. Here you can get a relaxing massage or a signature spa treatment while taking in the magnificent beachside views.
Spa
The Spa at Sanderling features ten treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite, private Vichy shower and eucalyptus steam room. Spa Robes and Slippers are provided. Each treatment is inspired by the unique natural resources of the Outer Banks and coastline and incorporates native ingredients that celebrate the region. The Spa is enhanced by a whisper zones, a solarium, a eucalyptus steam room, and heated indoor lap pool. Guests who can’t get enough of the dramatic views and waterfront setting can enjoy massages in the outdoor gazebo. A full service salon and nail stations make Sanderling the perfect spot for bridal parties to relax and enjoy time together before the big day.
Yoga and Fitness
In addition to spa treatments, a full range of yoga classes are also offered. Guests can welcome the day ahead of them with sunrise yoga on the beach as they hold a sun salutation pose with their toes planted in the sand . A slow vinyasa flow yoga consisting of one hour for asana followed by a 15 minute savasana with yoga nidra and a soothing head massage is also offered. Yogilates (a combination of yoga and Pilates) beginner’s yoga and private yoga classes are held at the spa’s yoga studio.
The Sanderling’s Fitness Room is reserved exclusively for our in-house guests. A larger fitness center is located 3 miles north at the Pine Island Racquet and Fitness Center and a discounted fee is available for Sanderling guests.

We returned to the Sanderling for our 10th anniversary. In the off-season, the fireplaces throughout the buildings add a nice touch. The main lobby has a bar, game tables, and a sitting areas. There are plenty of chairs overlooking the ocean and an outdoor fireplace and pool with an indoor pool, spa, and sauna across the street. The on-site restaurant (the Lifesaving Station) is pricey but convenient. It has unique and tasty offerings despite a limited menu.
Great place, nice hot tub and fire pits which we enjoyed under a full moon and wonderful view of the night sky.
