Salon Cuvee and Day Spa – Sacramento

Pretty pricey but great quality haircut, color, and perm. I've gone here for years and gotten everything, never disappointed (other than one time we experimented but the stylist let me know it might not work, and it didn't, so I took risk fully aware of the possible outcome and even then she offered to fox it for free).

Hot Maria wins! She gives the best facials and facial experience you could expect from an esthetician. Very knowledgeable and very passionate about the work she does. She also does spray tans -- no more sun damage! I feel like I'm 16 again (well, at least my face does).

You know that feeling when you walk into a place and the staff is really happy to see you? Yeah, didn't get that here at all.

I walk in and see 2 ladies at the front desk. They were having a conversation that didn't stop until I was in front of them and waiting for 5 seconds. It was a "hello, how can I help you?"  Very dry and just -- eh.  I believe they should have known it was my first time here, but nope. No greeting or welcome. Just "you're checked in and there is a waiting area to your right."  I wanted to walk out right then and there for lack of engaging customer service, but I stayed.

Waiting area was quaint. Not necessarily a room, but kind of an enlarged hallway with a pay-chair for massages, Keurig, fresh water, glasses, a tabletop fountain and many knickknacks for sale (jewelry, small purses and hats).

My appointment was for 4:30, but I came a bit early so I could get the full experience and write a detailed review.

My stylist was Brenna. She was very nice and did a great job with snipping my ends and listening to the style I wanted. I would have liked more information on how to treat my curls such as at night or when they look really dry, but for the most part, she gave me some good directions on how to use the DevaCurl line. She upsold me on a $30 deep conditioning that I don't think lasted as long as she said it would (3 weeks but day 3 my hair was looking dry. I fixed that with my DevaCurl products).

My total was $150 and I left a tip as well. I was offered wine in which I obliged and thought that was a nice touch, but I don't think I will return. Not too ethnically diverse, but still a clean salon. I just wish it was more welcoming and for the price I paid, I feel as though things like nightly routines shouldn't have been left out of our DevaCurl full tutorial convo.
