HIGHLIGHTS, TIPS and NOTES:
The daily March of the Peabody Ducks brings guests from the world over; the new full service spa was opened in Autumn 2015

The Peabody Memphis is a Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond historic Downtown Memphis hotel, located in the heart of “Blues City.”  This premium location is just blocks from the city’s best attractions, including Beale Street, the Memphis Rock N Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factory, Fed-Ex Forum, National Civil Rights Museum, Sun Studio, Orpheum Theatre, and the Memphis Cook Convention Center.

Lodging

The Peabody Memphis offers 464 smoke-free deluxe guest rooms (some pet friendly), including 15 suites, and the Peabody Club, an exclusive, private-access concierge level amenity area with complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day, a welcome cocktail, and honor bar.  Our  Junior Suites feature 1- to 2-bedrooms and a parlor, our Romeo and Juliet Suites have loft bedrooms with romantic spiral staircases and fireplace or a wet bar, our Celebrity Suites have a formal dining room, and our Presidential Suite has specious living and dining areas.

Feathers Spa and the Athletic Club

The Peabody’s resort-style luxury Feathers Spa offers a full menu of spa and salon treatments, including massage, body therapies (including wraps and scrubs), skin care (facials and enhancements), wax treatments, manicures and pedicures, hair styling, and make-up artistry.     The Peabody Athletic Club is a Certified Nautilus Training Center with Grecian-style indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool spa.  Both are located on the hotels lower level.

The Peabody Ducks

The most celebrated guests of the Peabody include its resident ducks. In 1933, several mallard ducks were placed in the hotel’s lobby fountain, which evolved into an 80-year tradition that continues today with the daily March of the Peabody Ducks from their roof top Royal Duck Palace to the lobby fountain. The Peabody name has become synonymous with these 5 celebrity residents, and they are now the living symbol of the Peabody brand. The Peabody Ducks march to and from the Grand Lobby daily at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Wine and Dine

The Peabody Memphis offers fine and casual dining for it guests, and is well known as having the best Rooftop Bar and Lounge in the South.  The Peabody’s Summer Season Rooftop Parties are legendary and host hot bands, serve cool drinks, and offer sky-high views of the sun setting over the Mississippi River.     Fine dining is available in the hotel’s classic French restaurant, Chez Phillipe, and the hotel’s Afternoon Tea or Sunday Brunch services are elegant affairs.   The Peabody Pastry Shop and the hotel’s deli offer snacks throughout the day.  Snag a table at the Lobby Bar in the hotel’s Grand Lobby, often referred to as the “living room of Memphis” and watch the March of the Peabody Ducks.

My husband and I love this hotel so much. We’ve spent the night there for numerous special occasions - wedding night, anniversaries, and birthdays. We love having afternoon tea at Chez Philipe and getting treatments at the Feathers Spa. The ducks are always a sight to enjoy! Can’t wait to go back for more special occasions in the future.

Booked my mom a room here for her 50th birthday. Enjoyed seeing the ducks march at 5pm (arrive at least 30 minutes early for a good view) and again at 11am the following morning. This hotel is so beautiful and I'd like to visit the Feathers Spa next time I'm in town.

Parking was interesting, but upon check out I was informed that we could've parked at the entrance of the hotel to unload our bags, THEN self park. We had walked from the parking garage all the way to the entrance with all of our stuff! I still enjoyed my stay and would definitely do it again!

The spa is adequate but as they point out on Spa Index in the Best of Memphis Awards, small and in the basement so not very bright and airy. Not unusual but sadly, you have to book a spa service if you want to use the steam and sauna, and they had no openings so we didn't et to use the amenity which is reserved for spa guests due to the small size.  You'd never get in if it was open to "all guests" in this touristy hotel. The entire spa area could use a few upgrades but there are not many hotel spas in the area so will try harder to book early next time so I can enjoy the services. Nice people!
