Moccasin Springs Natural Mineral Springs is a wellness destination just 50 Minutes South of Mount Rushmore in the Southern Black Hills.
These therapeutic waters have been bubbling up out of the ground for over 140 years, filtered through a natural red rock formation, and flowing into a moccasin shaped pool. The “Original Indian Springs that made this town famous” has been called The Black Hills Spa, Minnekahta Springs and now Moccasin Springs.
Today, the Moccasin Springs Natural Mineral Spa has been re-built around the original structures, preserving as much history as possible. Spa and Massage Therapy Services are available, as well as yoga, sound balancing, sauna, private soaking tub hydrotherapy, and more.
Moccasin Springs consists of a Pool House (warming house with gas fireplace), Bathhouse (with natural mineral spring water). The 1913 large pool is 88-90 degrees, the Pool House Pool (the original moccasin shaped pool) is 93 degrees. The 2 Hot Pools range in temperatures from 98-102.
All of the historical ruins on site have been taken in consideration, much care was taken to maintain the ruins and build around the original site, keeping as much history as possible.
After a day of relaxation, be sure to dine on the locally sourced cuisine at Buffalo Dreamer, the facility’s own restaurant.

Top notch place for relaxation
Incredible is the only thing to say! Came here 6 months pregnant. The waters to soak in were not extremely hot. It is doable and very tolerable. I didn't get in the pools over 100° just my feet. They have pool noodles to stay afloat and relax. The food at Buffalo Dreamer: If you Order get the Buffalo burger, it was amazing! They have lockers but you can opt out to have your stuff laying around.
Wonderful and peaceful place. The hot springs are great with different heated pools and plenty of room. The showers and changing rooms are very nice. Be careful of the floor when it gets wet - I slipped and fell. The outdoor area is slightly confusing. A lot of people all had the same confused reaction when they first walk in. We went in the winter so we didn't get the full experience. But, the pools are definitely worth the trip.
