First time here and parts of this resort are amazing and others not so much.
On the upside - Food at the restaurants was good, service was excellent. Breakfast buffet at the Boathouse was awesome.
My daughter and I also got facials and massages, which were fantastic! The massage therapists were very professional and super friendly. Would highly recommend spending the extra money and getting both of these services.
On the down side - The room and amenities in the room were sub par. We stayed in Windrose and paid extra for the balcony with a lake view. The building itself is old and has not been updated in a long time. It had an odor of an old basement. Beds and pillows were not exactly comfortable. No microwave in the room. Deck chairs were cheap plastic and cracked. They sat so low you can’t see over the deck railing so you have to look at the lake through the railing. The TV didn’t work well and the sound and picture kept going out. We told hotel staff but they never contacted us about fixing it. I did however say it was okay if it wasn’t fixed.
The other disappointment was not as many pools as I had hoped there would be. Since I’m “more mature" aka “old” , I’m not into the party scene. Was hoping there would be more options for smaller pools that didn’t have lots of partiers.
My son had been to the Margaritaville in the Texas and he said it was amazing, but I feel like this one lacked some of the upscale amenities that I was expecting. Especially in the room itself.
Since converting from Tan Tar A to Margaritaville I was expecting more upgrades to the rooms which isn't really "there" yet. Still very dated and faded with too many obvious things which need to be fixed / replaced. Just "tired" looking, but the food is better. Spa is still pretty good. My daughter and I get a massage and facial here every summer and this year was as nice as always.
Great place to stay if you have kids! The arcade / pizza was great, lots of things to do. Day Spa Salon. We went horseback riding, jet skiing, bowling, etc. Had a blast! Really nice place to stay as well.
