Hotel Villa Honegg – Switzerland

Hotel Villa Honegg, an Art Nouveau spa hotel, was opened in 1905, and renovated and re-opened in 2011.  One of the most popular destinations for alpine hikers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a quiet refuge.    To get there, travel up the Bürgenstock from turquoise Lake Lucerne until you reach this hotel on a peaceful meadow at more than 3000 ft altitude. Views are incredible — meadows with cows, jagged summits, woodlands, and trails to the Felsenweg, a circular cliff walk incorporating Europe’s tallest exposed lift.

Lodging and Dining

The first-class accommodations that are a treat by themselves, some overlooking the lake and others the jagged mountains, or opt for the corner suites with its surround balconies. Opulent fixtures, high end fixtures and furnishing and attention to detail throughout.  Dining is offered in the stylishly furnished restaurant or on the terrace with its views of Lake Lucerne. The Restaurant has been awarded 14 Gault-Millau points, and the cuisine focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Fitness

The Bürgenstock and its environs are criss-crossed by footpaths suitable for all ages.  The Hotel Villa Honegg is also a great place to start your cycling or MTB escapade. The Bürgenstock itself and the surrounding mountains are a playground for all kinds of pedal-powered activities, including e-bikes. Guests are offered use of the hotel’s complimentary Bergamont-brand mountain bikes and e-bikes.   The hotel’s gym is equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym machines, designed to promote stamina, cardiovascular health, strength (Power Plate) and mind/body balance (kinesis), the facilities are designed to quicken the pulse in both senses of the word.
