We always have had a nice experience at the Hotel Viking and the Spa at the hotel. We appreciated that they did not require a three night minimum stay as every other hotel did on the holiday. We are local and we only wanted to book one night. Always professional, clean, and friendly!
I’ve always wanted to visit Rhode Island so my husband planned a road trip for our family. The hotel welcomed us with smiles and excitement. It was lovely to get such a welcome. They even treated our daughter and small Yorkie extra special. Many of the restaurants and boutiques were closed for the season which was kind of a bummer but at least it was quiet which encouraged us to relax during our stay. The coffee and convenience of the indoor small market reminded me of places back home so I didn’t really get home sick. We also tried the spa. My treatment was late so the masseuse was very tired during my treatment. I felt so badly it was kind of hard to relax but when I did, the honey treatment was exactly what I needed. My husband tried his own treatment early in the morning. He would have liked more attention paid to his feet but overall a positive experience. We will definitely return. Thanks to all of the staff for being so nice to our family.
To start, what I like was the facade on the entrance. The decor and vibe of the place. The mix between preserving the antique style and some modern style.
Sadly the place has not step up to the new standards of modernity. The wifi was sluggish. It felt like I was using dial-up or early 2000s internet speed. The tv uses satellite which cuts the signal often. Every time I put the tv on, it was pixelated, choppy, sound cutting and not a good image overall. The bathroom in the room is outdated. The door to the shower was glass but stuck to the bottom tile. Hard to open and close. It made a loud noise like an old door. There were damage decor in the room. By the air ventilation near the window it was pushed in.
Then there were some amenities that were included in the website but I never got while I stayed there and no one offered me. Like the "Welcome Drink" was never offered. The staff at the front desk need some serious retraining or reminders that the guests, customers, the people coming in are priority number one above all. Should inform the guests of holds or extras from the start.
I have stayed at other hotels and been told when there will be a hold of over $300.00 in my card. But at Hotel Viking that was not the case. It really vexed me.
From the start the most courteous staff was the valet. Amazing people, friendliness that excels and great personality. The housekeeper was so kind and sweet. Modest too. The barista at Hill Market, which is the breakfast place, was so accommodating.
The most spectacular part of the hotel was and was the spa. Spa Fjor is phenomenal. Beyond expectation and in my mind worth the amount. One gets really what is paid. Sauna. Salt hand wash. Incredible masseuses. One can relax and recover in that place. Their facials are superb too.
Would not stay at Hotel Viking again. I would most definitely go back for that spa.
Hotel Response: "Thank you for your constructive feedback. It's terrific you had relaxing and enjoyable treatments at our on-site spa. We understand the need for dependable Wi-Fi, so we'll reach out to our internet service provider to see if improvements can be made. Rest assured, your thoughts will be used to help train our front desk team. Despite this, we're pleased you appreciated the friendly service you received during your visit. We know that we can deliver the amazing experience you were hoping for and we hope to have another opportunity to prove this. Sincerely, Erik Berlied, Director of Rooms"
