The Hall of Waters is in Excelsior Springs, Clay County Missouri, located approximately 30 miles northeast of Kansas City. Excelsior Springs is known for the healing springs “discovered” in 1880 by a farmer. Subsequent springs were discovered and the area became a health and relaxation destination.
The Hall of Waters, a beautiful and one-of-a-kind Art Deco Building, was built between 1936-1937 as a bottling and distribution facility for the city to sell its healing medicinal mineral waters. At one time, it was also home to the world’s longest water bar, an indoor swimming pool, a pool for the hydrotherapy treatment of guests with polio, the city’s water department, and a spa for men and women.
Today, the City’s Hall of Waters Building is home to the City offices, but it still boasts exquisite Art Deco detailing and more importantly, still serves and sells Excelsior Springs Natural Calcium Mineral Water, and guests may sample the world famous Iron Manganese mineral water. It also stocks mineral, spring, glacier and flavored waters from around the world.
The Hall of Waters, besides housing the mineral water bar, bath department, and swimming pool, also contains the city’s administrative offices. Public offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Spa services are no longer available but it remains an important tour for the spa enthusiast.
