This stunning hotel offers premium accommodations and rich dining experiences in American Craftsman style and elegance. With its first-of-its kind Day Spa, an impressive array of amenities and impeccable Disney service, the Disney Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa defines grandeur in every way.
After your visit to the park, there are plenty of activities at the vacation themed resort, as well. Choose from a variety of themed pools that include water slides, outdoor hot tubs and, for an additional fee, private cabanas.
The Tenaya Stone Spa, opening in 2020 as soon as it is safe to travel and host guests, is the first ever day spa to be designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. Inspired by the spirit of nature and Californian heritage, this full-service spa will be a rejuvenating retreat.
While the adults visit the spa to enjoy exotic treatments the children (ages 5 to 12) can be treated to a fun evening of arts and crafts, computer games, Disney films, dinner and snacks at the resort’s licensed child activity center, Pinocchio’s Workshop.
Dine at Napa Rose, experience award-winning wines and seasonal creations for an exquisite fine-dining experience. For family fare, head over to Storytellers Café for Character Dining and buffets.

This resort could easily receive five stars under normal conditions, and given the challenges of the pandemic, their effort to create a relaxing resort vibe does not go unnoticed. At the time of our visit (6/9-6/18), there were still a number of limitations and challenges, such as an understandably unavailable spa, menu limitations or disappointments, and unexpected construction noise and room repairs.
Lessons Learned: Know before you go, which activities, facilities, and/or amenities are unavailable. Ask if there are any construction activities going on either on hotel property or immediately adjacent in Downtown Disney or in the park. If so, ask for rooms away from the construction, because the work and noise can start at 3am (as in our case). Similarly, during peak periods, music in the parks and Downtown Disney may go late into the evening and start up again early in the morning. If that's a concern, ask for rooms away from the noise.
Looking forward to returning under more normal conditions and following my learned lessons.
Staff is wonderful. The pools and spa are nice. Quick access to California Adventure and downtown. There was even a singing group in the lobby.
Beautiful, California craftsman style architecture sets this hotel apart from the other two properties on the resort. Plus, with a pool, water slide, spa, and delicious dining options like Storyteller's Cafe and Napa Rose, you don't even have to leave the hotel to have a good time.
