HIGHLIGHTS, TIPS and NOTES:
Wine Spectator Award of Excellence; non-smoking, environmentally friendly, all-season resort

Devil’s Thumb Ranch is located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, 65 miles west of Denver, and 10 minutes from Winter Park, in Tabernash, Colorado. Our Ranch encompasses 5000 acres at the foot of the Continental Divide in the beautiful Ranch Creek Valley of Grand County.

Our highly regarded and environmentally friendly year-round ranch resort and spa offers rustically upscale accommodations, fine dining and an array of winter and summer outdoor and wilderness recreation activities. We believe in maintaining the history of the property, the natural beauty of the surrounding land, and helping you make new memories while enjoying the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

Some guests come just for a Colorado spa vacation, others are here for the outdoor activities and realize there’s nothing like a little pampering after a hard day of cross-country skiing or hiking. Our beautiful 10,000 square foot Ranch Creek Spa is located in a quiet corner of the meadow in its own building overlooking the Ranch. It has eight treatment rooms, including a 700 square foot couples suite, a yoga lookout studio, and separate men’s and women’s locker rooms, each with steam rooms. Our spa gift shop features a variety of botanical and organic skin treatment products as well as a fun selection of designer jewelry, yoga clothing, bags, gifts, artwork and more. Whether it’s a hot stone massage, an exfoliating body scrub, a high altitude facial or one of our couples relaxation treatments, the Ranch Creek Spa offers you “just the thing.”

Recognized by both Conde Nast and  Denver Magazine as one of the best spa resorts in Colorado.

Anniversary Getaway

Third time here. Stayed in a cabin this time for our anniversary. So relaxing and the surroundings are beautiful. Always plenty to do with the variety of activities on offer. This time we got a spa treatment and it was great. Food in the Ranch House is excellent as always. Absolutely one of my favorite places to visit in Colorado.

Our experience was memorable to say the very least. If you're looking for a hybrid off the grid getaway, this resort is a gorgeous destination. We stayed for the weekend and had a wonderful time. They truly thought of everything. From robes to flip flops, the rooms are prepared in case you aren't. The food at the restaurants is delicious and all other amenities were so much fun and very well-kept. Thank you for such a wonderful time at this Colorado resort and spa. We plan to come again soon!

Month / Year of Your Visit?: November 2020

We stayed in the Blue Sky cabin with a group of women for a friend's birthday. We paid about $1200/night. The cabin is rustic and nice, but nothing fancy. The heat was not working, and it took us 3 phone calls and 2 text messages to guest services to get it fixed. There was a cold snap, and the cabin was cold. We did yoga a couple of days, and that was great. We also secured a private hot tub at the spa. Only upon arrival did the spa tell us the jets were not working in the hot tub. So it was basically a lukewarm bath, for which they charged full price. We ordered drinks from Heck's, and it took 45 minutes to get them. Customer service sorely lacking. The outdoor setting/hiking/mountain biking trails are gorgeous.

"Greetings Lisa, and thank you for choosing to celebrate your friend's birthday getaway at the Ranch. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed the complimentary daily yoga and gorgeous, natural setting for hiking and biking. We apologize for the disappointing experience at our spa's hot tub, however we have already been made aware and refunded this rental fee for your group. While your wait time for drink service was longer than our standards, our spa did our best to increase your relaxation time in order to enjoy them once delivered. While our cabins do have a rustic, authentic mountain charm, we do apologize for the temporary colder temperatures. We're happy to hear our staff was able to resolve the issue as well as provide space heaters for anyone that was still not as cozy as we promise our guests. Thank you for making us aware of these hiccups and allowing us the opportunity to improve your time while you were staying with us." -- Devil's Thumb
