Chase on the Lake – Minnesota Lakes

Enjoyed our stay. Went for a pontoon evening ride and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Was a beautiful place.

Really wanted to love it here, but our stay at Chase on the Lake was just okay. The location is great - on the shore of Leech Lake and just one block from all the food and drinks you could want. Service was excellent, at the front desk and at The 502 where we stopped for cocktails every evening. All that said, the rooms and hotel itself are in desperate need of updates and repairs. The grout in our bathroom was crumbling and as a result the floor tiles were loose. The handle on our bathroom sink kept falling off, and the water temperature could only be set to scorching hot or cold. The walls were scraped/chipped so that dry wall was showing - could definitely use a fresh coat of paint and some patching. The carpet was stained and just looked dirty in general. The mini fridge had garbage leftover from another guest inside of it. The furnishings are outdated. On the whole, the place needs a facelift. Wish the owners would reinvest in their resort - otherwise we won't likely return.

Restaurant visit only. A lovely day for a delightful lunch and beverages on the spacious deck at the Chase! The expansive view of the lake can't be beat. I love the Cranberry BLT, made with cranberry wheat bread, specially made for this restaurant, and the usual other fixings (BLT). A flavorful aioli finishes it off, no mayo. Hubby's Bacon Cheeseburger with sweet potato fries was delicious, so well made, and a generous portion. Although short-staffed, as most restaurants are these days, our server was friendly and attentive and deserved a great tip.
