This hotel resort is really showing its age, but still is a Grand Dame in the area, one of the nicest. Just sad to see it declining from a lack of renovations. The spa is one of the best in San Diego and the location cannot be beat, but pretty soon the view and location won't be enough to "carry the day."

Room: 3 stars. Bed very comfortable but room desperately in need of a remodel. Recommend the sliding glass doors have screens doors also. Can hear sliding glass doors of all rooms above, as they open and close (need lubricating or?). Recommend TV menu page or room posted channel list. Recommend USB ports next to beds. Recommend more diligent housekeeping and maintenance.
I visited here a few days ago and the food and ambiance was as awesome as I remembered from a visit a few years ago. As many have written before, the lobby is so welcoming, and the koi pond is so unique and special. There are seats beside it so you can just sit and enjoy. Truly relaxing. The food at this restaurant is delicious and the view of the water and the sea world light tree is really nice at their outdoor seating area. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating when we considered moving for a closer heat lamp. I’ve never stayed here so I cannot speak to that aspect.
I experienced the massage spa a few years ago, and it was truly a gift. The massage was great, and as part of that you get to use the spa area the entire day, including the work out area, sauna, and hot tub.
Being back for dinner made me really look forward to that area opening back up so I can hopefully get another massage there.
