The Farm at Borgo Santo Pietro
The Farm is at the heart of the property, and each season it becomes more self-sufficient and sustainable. An essential element of the Borgo lifestyle is producing its own vegetables, fruit, herbs and honey for the restaurant kitchens. Simple, honest seasonal ingredients grown organically and biodynamically. The Farm’s harvest is nurtured and gathered with love whilst honouring the 800 year tradition of producing food for this ancient Tuscan hamlet. Month by month, the farm grows with new “residents” including a family of Alpacas, chickens, pigs and sheep. Guests are welcome to walk among the free-range animals and help farmers with their harvest.
Tuscan Dining
While dining can be both casual or elegant here, it is always world-class: For breakfast and lunch, the open plan kitchen assures that the onsite chef is available prepare meals for guests exactly when they want it, and how they want it, using off-the-vine local ingredients. Such is the love of homegrown and homemade produce, all of the bread, jams and yoghurts served at breakfast and alongside main dishes for lunch and dinner, are freshly made in the kitchen every single day. Fine dining for dinner is served on the terrace with exquisite views, or try the Grotto Dining Experience — a romantic candle-lit table for up to four people in grotto area surrounding the infinity pool. Gourmet Cooking lessons are available with the chef at the Borgo Cooking School (pick your ingredients fresh from the vegetable garden in the morning before the class) and lunch with the chef. Executive Chef Andrea Mattei and his “farm to plate” philosophy guided the Borgo Santo Pietro to its first Michelin Star in December 2015.
