Crab and Avocado Protein Breakfast

This recipe, contributed by Leisa Cockayne of Make Me Sugar Free, is recommended as the perfect start to a sugar-free day. Breakfast can be a dangerous time for sugar intake, with simple things like an orange juice putting you over your recommended daily allowance.  Instead of those “empty calories” — what better way to start your day than with a fresh and tasty protein breakfast, infused with zingy, spicy flavors with a chili punch?

Here’s the thing. When avocados are best, that’s not when crab is at its best. Then I saw this uses tinned. NO. Just no. At most, you should use those fresh pack containers in the fridge section of the store. Not a can of crab meat. You’d be just as well off getting canned tuna — that’s just as good for protein, but I don’t think there is any good canned crab meat. This would be better if you happened to have some fresh crab — but does anyone? use the plastic containers in the cold aisle. But good idea anyway.

We don’t disagree. However, we’d still give tinned crab a fair chance when none other was available (which is so true in regions that can’t even import the refrigerated crab you mention).
