Cinnamon Banana Chips
Steer clear of purchased banana chips which are usually coated in sugar (for a fruit already sweet on its own!) and preservatives. Instead, try this simple recipe for Cinnamon Banana Chips. They are great way to satisfy sweet and crunchy cravings at the same time. Bananas pack an energy punch and sustain your blood sugar, and they are officially recognized by the FDA for being high in potassium and low in salt, which helps to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke.
Ingredients
- 3 large bananas - thinly sliced in rounds, or strips, as you prefer
- 1 lemon - juiced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees F
- Slice bananas thinly and arrange on a parchment lined baking sheet
- Drizzle banana slices with lemon juice and sprinkle with cinnamon
- Bake for approximately 1 hour, checking frequently for crispness. Remove when chips are crisp, which may take less than or more than 1 hour depending on your oven
- If you prefer a chewy soft version, remove longish slices when browned and leathery, and roll up quickly as shown, and allow to harden and firm up slightly as the banana slices cool.

is there a machine to roll this one?
We’ve never found it necessary due to the small size of the chips, but you could certainly try a simple smallish rolling pin with a protective film to prevent sticking, or, a pasta press, or, a tortilla press.
Is there an air fryer version you post or recommend?
Hmmm. We have an Air Fryer but have not tried Banana Chips. That sounds like a good idea to try.
Very good, but just not as thin and crispy as I would like. More like a chewy chip. I would like it the texture of a potato chip but I have not got them thin enough yet.
I kinda put this under the better-than-none column. It’s okay. May as well eat a banana with lemon juice and cinnamon, because they are nt chippy enough for me. but you are right about one thing. once you start eating less sugar, less sodium etc, and then you eat a banana chip from trail mix or some pouch of snacks, you think jeez, this is like banana flavored sugar candy and yu can’t eat it anymore. but still looking for a crisp sweet but not candy banana chip. H ey. literally just though while typing, i should try a tiny bit of maple syrup. yep.
