Cinnamon Spiced Carrot Oat Smoothie
The Ranch at Live Oak Malibu assists guests in re-calibrating their mind, body and spirit through an intensive week long endurance, wellness and nutrition program. Located three miles above the Pacific Ocean in the Santa Monica Mountains, the 15-cottage retreat is beautifully situated on a large working ranch. Ingredients
- 1 cup carrots - tender or young, scrubbed and chopped
- ½ cup unsweetened oat milk - or almond, if you prefer
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 Pinch nutmeg
- 1 Pinch ground ginger
- 1 small banana - or 1/2 of a large banana
Instructions
- In a blender, combine all of the ingredients until completely smooth.
- Garnish as desired (try sliced almonds, toasted oats, walnuts, cinnamon or nutmeg, sliced bananas, or apple slices)
I was long overdue for a different flavor profile in the morning. Very good!
We enjoyed this smoothie quite a bit, but we made two modest adjustments. We preferred it with a bit more oat milk. We increased milk to 1 cup, but to keep the smoothie a bit thick, we added 2 teaspoons of old fashioned oats, and blended the uncooked oats with the rest of the smoothie ingredients. Another team member also increased the oat milk, but added a few raw almonds to thicken it back up, instead of the oat flakes. All three versions are great!
