The Circle S Ranch is a journey back in time to a place where life was simpler, and the air was cleaner. Come visit us and find out for yourself what it means to actually watch the buffalo roam.  The Ranch was originally homesteaded as an 80-acre tract purchased from a railroad company in the 1860's. It has been owned, expanded and operated by cowgirl/innkeeper Mary Cronemeyer's family through five generations. Today the ranch encompasses more than 1,200 acres, including tall grass prairies and picturesque stands of timber. It is home to small herds of bison, longhorns, Herefords and Angus cattle, as well as indigenous wildlife. Aside from the natural setting and great hospitality, one of the features the Circle S Ranch is best known for is its truly unique guest rooms. Our family owned and operated inn and spa is located on US Hwy 50 at Strong City, in the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills. We hope to attract travelers who don't just stop in the big cities, but who prefer to explore the nooks and crannies of the country. Those who appreciate the retro charm of red brick and knotty pine or the individual attention one receives at an owner operated establishment. We want to provide those personal touches that you just won't find in your average corporate mega/econo-motels. Things like knowing who will take you out on the range to take in a magnificent prairie sunset on horseback or by wagon. Or where you can get a great inexpensive breakfast and catch up on the county's goin-ons. At Prairie Fire Inn and Spa, we use spa not to refer to a Jacuzzi/hot tub, but in the more traditional, broader sense of a place of relaxation, restoration, and healing. Currently, all treatments offered are hands-on treatments performed by nationally certified massage therapists. Would you like to enjoy vintage westerns, cartoons and features right outside your room?  The Innkeepers have collected vintage films and projectors for many years and the collection runs the gamut from vintage cartoons and westerns, to nature and science documentaries. Films are projected the old fashioned way (on a bedsheet) outside. Chairs are provided for our guests, but films can also be viewed from most of the motel rooms. Films are shown on weekend evenings at dark (weather permitting).
