Italy (Italian:
Italia),
officially the Italian Republic, (Italian:
Repubblica Italiana),
is located on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe, and
on the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily
and Sardinia. Italy shares its northern Alpine boundary with
France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. The independent
states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves
within the Italian Peninsula, while Campione d'Italia is an
Italian exclave in Switzerland. Italy is known by 20
regions across these major areas:
Alps ·
Apennines · Northern
Italy · Central Italy ·
Southern Italy.
Italy has
been the home of many European cultures, such as the
Etruscans and the Romans, and later was the birthplace of
the movement of the Renaissance, that began in Tuscany and
spread all over Europe. Italy's capital Rome has been the
center of Western civilization, and is the center of the
Catholic Church.
The terms
balnea or
thermae
were the words the
ancient Romans used
for the buildings
housing their public
baths. Most Roman
cities had at least
one, if not many,
such buildings,
which were centers
of public bathing
and socialization.
Baths were the most
important for
Romans. They stayed
there for several
hours and went there
daily to bath,
exercise, and relax.
Roman bath-houses
were also provided
for private villas,
town houses and
forts — these were
also called thermae.

Veneto
or Venetia (Vèneto), is one of the 20 regions of Italy. Its
capital is Venice. Once the cradle of the renowned Venetian Republic, then a
land of mass emigration, Veneto is today among the wealthiest and most
industrialized regions of Italy. Veneto's natural, historical, and artistic
beauty makes it, by far, the most visited region of Italy.
Veneto is located in the northeastern part of
Italy, bordering on the Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy, the
autonomous Italian regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Friuli Venezia
Giulia, and the nation of Austria. It lies between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea
and is crossed by the rivers Po, Adige, Brenta and Piave |

CENTRAL ITALY
TUSCANY |
 |
|
Tuscany
(Italian: Toscana) is one of the
twenty Regions of Italy. The capital is Florence, and it is known for its
landscapes and its artistic legacy. Six Tuscan localities have been made UNESCO
protected sites: the historical center of Florence, the historical center of
Siena, the square of the Cathedral of Pisa, the historical center of San
Gimignano, the historical center of Pienza and the Val d'Orcia. |

At the heart of
Tuscany there is a spring
from which healing waters have flowed for
centuries. The Etruscans and Romans discovered
the cleansing and fortifying properties of the
waters and made use of them accordingly. The
waters obtain their healing forces from the
depths of the earth, where they are enriched
with valuable minerals and sulphur before
rising once again to the surface.
Just a stone's
throw from the romantic village of Bagno
Vignoni, in the fertile Val d’Orcia – now a
UNESCO World Cultural Heritage
site – stands the
ADLER THERMAE Spa Resort.
This oasis of wellbeing is the ideal place to
enjoy the precious waters from the hot springs
and gather new strength through an exclusive
programme of individual treatments. The
water from the springs flows and flows and, as
in the past, brings health and relaxation to
body and soul. |

Grotta Giusti Spa Hotel
is located in the heart of the famed Tuscany valley, only a few kilometers
from the region's most famous cultural cities, Florence, Pisa, Siena and
Lucca. Grotta Giusti offers its guests a number of
excursions towards a lesser known Tuscany but no less authentic, to make a
pleasant, relaxing holiday more complete.
Grotta Giusti
is one of
Nature's gifts to man. Starting from the entrance through to the
deepest part of the Grotta, three different zones are crossed, each one
increasing in heat, which tradition has named Paradise, Purgatory
and Hell. Limbo has a picturesque lake, the waters of which
maintain a constant temperature, both in winter and summer, of 36°C. Even
the temperature of the air undergoes very little change over the seasons,
ranging from 31°C. in the first cavity to a maximum 34°C. in Hell,
with an approximate 100% humidity. The atmospheric pressure is
constant and the same as outside, in all parts of the Grotta. An unexplained,
natural mechanism guarantees a constant and efficient change of air, making the
stay in the Grotta a pleasant one, even with the profuse perspiration induced by
the high level of humidity, rather than by the temperature. The steam of
the rich thermal waters generates a natural "bath of health" which detoxifies
the organism for an overall sense of well-being.
Grotta Giusti is
a natural paradise on the slopes of Monsummano
hill. Immersed in the beauty of the Tuscan
countryside, surrounded by the greenery of a
centuries-old park, the Grotta Giusti complex
is an enchanting and perfectly equipped Spa
centre with a feature that makes it unique:
the ancient grotto, which envelops the guest
in a beneficial and detoxifying thermal steam
bath |

has been a resort since the time of the Roman Republic. Features of the
island are the Marina Piccola (Small Harbor), the Belvedere of Tragara, which is

out of the sea (the Faraglioni), Anacapri, the Blue Grotto (Grotta
Azzurra), and the ruins of the Imperial Roman villas. Capri is in the
region of Campania, Province of Naples. The City of Capri is the main

island. Other community areas include Barano d'Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Forio,
