Azure Palm Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa Oasis – Desert Hot Springs

Listed in CALIFORNIA, Southern California

HIGHLIGHTS, TIPS and NOTES:
NEWLY RENOVATED IN 2020-2021

The Palm Springs Region became home to its newest wellness resort in 2021 — Azure Palm Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa Oasis.

The Resort

Guests will enjoy accommodations in 40 guest rooms, including 24 newly-renovated Luxury Spa Suites, each one with private in-room mineral spring water bathing tubs.  In-Room Massage is available in the Spa Suites.   The Santa Rosa Spa Suite also boasts more than 1,000 square feet, a living room with fireplace, and more.  Spa Suite guests have direct access to the Himalayan Salt Room and adjacent Ice Room.

The remaining 16 King Rooms feature balconies with views of the city and snow capped mountains.  A select number of the ground-floor King Rooms are pet-friendly.

The grounds are perfect for relaxation, with morning yoga in the studio, healthy breakfast options from the cafe, hammock lounging under the palm shade in the afternoons, sun bathing pads, tranquil paths, a Chi room, reflexology walk, and many private spots for solitude.

Dining is offered by the Azure Palm Café, open all day with light and healthy fare, including pressed juices, and a selection of beverages, including coffee and espresso, beer and wine.   Meals and snacks are enjoyed in guest rooms, the cafe, the courtyard, or around the fire pit each evening.

The Water

Azure Palm Hot Springs has 2 acres of geothermal sparkling water. The water emerges from the underground aquifer at 174 degrees in a 100 x 40′ clear mineral pool, maintained at 86-90 degrees year round.   You will also enjoy 2 outdoor mineral spas and 2 indoor mineral spas — choose your temperature preference ranging from 90-104 degrees.  The silky, healing and moisturizing mineral water is odorless, and rich in Sulfur, Silica, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous and Lithium  — the perfect “cocktail” for your skin, muscles, and mind.  The hammocks and cabanas let you either soak up the sun, or escape from it, while taking in views of the desert landscape and the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountain Range.

Wellness Services

Guests may book room and spa packages or choose individual services, including halotherapy in the custom Himalayan Salt Spa and Ice Room (perfect for transitioning between heating and cooling down) featuring salt walls and salt pebble floors heated with circulating hot water, plus a Finnish sauna, herbal steam room, body treatments, massage, skin care, body scrubs, and more.

Day Guests are invited to book a spa day to use the mineral water pools, rent a cabana, order a spa lunch from Azure Palm Cafe, and enjoy the views.  Private single-use mineral water tub rentals are available to day and overnight guests in 2 hour periods throughout the day.

Purpose driven programs will include detox cleansing featuring Vida Cleanse, energy work, yoga, hiking, and healthy living.

Location

Azure Palm Hot Springs is situated on Miracle Hill in Desert Hot Springs, the geothermal hot spring capital of Southern California, just 15 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, and 2 hours from downtown Los Angeles.

Day Guest Getaway

Husband and I went for a day pass and massage it was worth every penny spent. We both felt relaxed and our aches were gone afterwards. This was our third visit to Azure, the scenery is relaxing and the view of the valley is priceless.

Pros and Cons

We booked this place based on the beautiful photos and listed amenities (salt room, hot springs, pool, etc.).

The Pros:

The front desk staff, cafe staff, and housekeeping were great! The rooms are clean and styled with a Modern Bohemian flair. The bed linen was awesome and rivaled Marriott. The spa services are stellar; however, this is NOT a luxury resort as your imagination may lead you to believe from the photos.

The Cons:

Upon first glance, the lobby and courtyard area gives an air of exclusivity, but once you hit poolside, the salt room, and mineral bath areas, on a busy weekend (which I suspect there are many) --  you'll be over it in less than half a second. That's when you realize you're jockeying for time and space with the day pass holders who probably paid less than a 1/4 of what you paid, so they can roam the grounds and take advantage of the fantasy land you thought only hotel guests would have access to.

The location is a bit sketchy as it sits nestled in the heart of the 'hood'. Depending on where you're from you may not want to venture out at night. Well actually you won't venture out at night because the local business around the spa close up at 9PM. That means if you don't catch the cafe by 7PM you're SOL.

Summary:

Overall, great if you're balling on a budget and/or a local looking for a quiet getaway for the day to focus and relax. Especially, if you're just wanting a spa day.

Month / Year of Your Visit?: March 2022

The day spa experience was great. A wide variety of customization to cool down hot natural springs as well as a relaxing foot massage walk over spring water and rocks. Lots of showers, towels, robes and shoes. The pool was very nice and very flexible from covered seats to seats in the sun. It was easy to move around to the temperature you wanted to be in. The room with a private tub was very nice and it was surprisingly large. It easily fit two people and came with candles and incense on the side. The in room sauna should be drawn before midnight and after 7am to be respectful of other guests and we had no issues hearing other tubs fill or any noise issues at all. It was very quiet and serene at night. I give a strong recommendation for this resort.
