Don't overlook making use of a hotel spa for the day.  Many resorts and hotels encourage non-guests to use the spa for the day (although some charge a modest access fee). Often, Resort Spa facilities will offer day guests services by the hour, or full day programs, quiet rooms, relaxation areas, reading materials, cafes, and other facilities which make for a lovely day escape, without the cost of staying overnight.

I cannot say enough positive things about this salon! I had an awesome experience here last week. I had my hair cut and colored and I received a manicure. Right now, they are previewing a new makeup line to sell on site, so if you ask, you can probably get a complimentary makeover with your visit. The staff is professional and courteous. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Every client I saw was wearing jeans and t-shirts or sweaters. It's a great place to go and relax. Complimentary water, coffee, tea, granola bars if you will be there an hour or more for your service. The prices are comparable to other salons in the area, but you can get everything done with just one stop. I definitely recommend it! -- S.W., February 2010
