CASA PLAYA SPA
at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, Baja California, Mexico. |

Review submitted by Patricia A., 2006
I was instantly nostalgic to see your listing for Casa Playa Spa on
your site. My husband and I stopped here without a reservation
(another hotel lost our reservation) for a night on our
honeymoon early this year, and had spa treatments and a nice
stay in an ocean front room. The Spa treatments were lovely
and we could feel and smell the ocean near by. The
front staff treated us so nice when they learned our
original hotel "bumped us out" on our honeymoon. They seemed
genuinely happy they had a room for us and were so proud to
present us with a bottle of champagne and gave me a flower.
It wasn't a luxury hotel, it was actually humble, but it was
clean and comfortable and the staff were fantastic.
Without even asking, they found us a room with no families
on either side saying "It's
not time for children yet!"
It was one of our more relaxing moments on an otherwise
hectic honeymoon! |

This hotel and spa work really hard at coming up with promotions
that will suit the day tripper, the weekend tripper, and the family
vacationer. While not a luxury resort by any means, it has strong
ties to the community and has been in business perhaps longer than any of
the hotels around it -- which is a good sign. It's a terrific place
to stop with a family member, your children, your spouse, or just your
friend, for a day of good food, good beach access, that funky Mexico
shopping experience in the open markets, music, fun, overindulgence, or to
sleep away the day on the beach, after a spa treatment or two. The place
is always clean, the food always well-repaired, the staff always friendly,
the spa always welcoming. My children love the beach day with Dad,
and my wife slips away to the spa. I recommend Casa Playa to my
friends and family for the perfect spot to try a "spa weekend" for
consistently reasonable prices. |

I was robbed of my Raymond Weil watch at this spa. Management first
insisted it was taken by another guest, and then insisted that I misplaced
it. They ultimately took the position, at my departure, that there was no
proof the watch was stolen. The facilities were nice and services were
adequate. |

This brings up a valuable point which will benefit
our readers. Most every website for a spa facility will have a "FAQ"
or "Policies" section, and it is common practice for spas to request and advise
that guests 1) do not wear jewelry or watches to the spa because damage
from products, oils, steam, and water may result, and 2) do not bring valuables
to the spa. The spa cannot reliably guarantee security or "keep
watch" over purses, valuables, and such (particularly if there are no
lockers). While we've found that spa staff are almost always trustworthy, fellow guests
can be less honest. -- SpaIndex.com

Review submitted by Bob R. Pros: I would wholeheartedly recommend the Aventura Spa Palace as a
spa vacation destination. The cost of the trip was reasonable, the accommodations
were first class, and we were treated extremely well. We utilized the spa
quite a bit (it's world class) and we loved the gym and indoor pool, as well.
I'd give the entire trip a 9 out of 10 points. Some of the buffet style restaurants
aren't that good, but the breakfasts are incredible. The rooms are great,
but make sure to ask for a water view BEFORE you check in -- otherwise you
may end up looking out of your window at another building. Cons:
I would recommend that you stay away from the "timeshare tour" which guest
services will offer. No matter what they say otherwise, they WILL try very
hard to sell you a membership. We were with them for two hours before they
accepted "no" as an answer. It wasn't a very pleasant experience at all. Finally,
leave for the airport four hours before your flight. The lines at the airport
are also world class -- and we just made our plane. We left Aventura Spa
Palace at 11:30 for a 2:30 flight, after being assured by bellhops that we
had plenty of time. We didn't, and nearly missed our plane. |

For a relaxing and cost effective event -- highly recommend. Many
treatments are included in the package, outdoor activities, simple, but
clean rooms - spa cuisine. |
